The renowned Train des Pignes

The renowned Train des Pignes connects Nice to Digne-les-Bains – a 150 km drive at the heart of the provençal nature – lasting 3h20.

This one-hundred-year-old railroad line is one of a kind. Indeed,  it’s one of the rarest French railroad built on a metric line ran by the region Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur which can drive tourists as well as inhabitants, workers and students.

The train leads to territories which constitute an ideal path for the nature-lovers. Beside the breath-taking journey that the line offers, it also gives the tourists the opportunity to discover the hilltops villages from the Préalpes d’Azur to the Haute Provence, near the Verdon Canyon, the Mercantour mountains and the Haute-Provence Geoparc (UNESCO). They will also be able to find out about the natural heritage, and to enjoy some amazing cultural or outdoors activities.

New : Since Summer 2015 there has been commented visits on board – from mid-June to mid-September on Mondays and Wednesdays. A Chemins de Fer de Provence app will be available for Summer 2016.
