When it comes to accommodation, hotels have been busying themselves with makeovers: the Sofitel Marseille and its new terrace, the Dolce Frégate and its sea-view bedrooms, La Coquillade and the Hôtel des Gorges du Verdon with their brand-new spas, the Lodges en Provence with their original, innovative take on open-air hospitality, and the revamped Mas de Cotignac and Mas des Herbes Blanches!

In the kitchen, local chefs are whipping up a storm in a bid to tantalise your taste-buds in new venues: the Carré du Palais in Avignon, the Dolce Vita-Villa Marie in Saint-Tropez, and the Hard Rock Café in Marseille.

As for our monuments and museums, 2 new hotspots are now open to all culture vultures: the Hôtel de Caumont and the Natural History Museum in Aix-en-Provence.

If you’re looking for a spot of shopping, the region’s biggest cinema and shopping complex will be opening in La Capelette and the Stade Vélodrome stadium will be equipped with a new shopping centre. Wine connoisseurs will enjoy visiting the cellars in the new facilities at the Domaine de Peyre and the Domaine de Faverot estates.

And when it comes to sport and leisure, visitors will be spoilt for choice with the opening of Splash Word, the inauguration of the Route Napoléon’s equestrian trail and the mountain-biking Grande Traversée du Vaucluse. What’s more, a host of sporting events are due to take place in the region in 2015: the Tour de France in Gap, Digne les Bains and Pra Loup, a Worldtour Granfondo stage in Ventoux and the return of the legendary Bol D’or motorcycling competition at the Le Castellet Circuit!

Higher up in the peaks, a number of new establishments will be ushering visitors into new surroundings, including the opening of the 4-star Nevalhaia chalet in Vars.
